I am trying a sort of weekly newsletter post for a couple of reasons. The first is that due to Twitter’s continued descent into unusable garbage, a lot of the work I share doesn’t reach the usual audience and this is a way to give a quick round-up of the bigger pieces and other things I have been up to every week.
Second, and more importantly, my partner finds it too difficult to read Inverse herself every day and look out for all my articles. I don’t blame her (too much) because I write a ton of stuff every week, much of which is run-of-the-mill news updates and other things that she does not want to read. So, she asked me to send her my highlights at the end of every week in order to make her read my work like a loving and supportive partner.
With that out of the way let’s get on to the highlights.

In 2023 I am still hating on God of War Ragnarök — and games as cinema
God of War Ragnarök, a game that wants to be a movie, has a black-and-white mode now. It’s stupid and makes video games as a whole look bad by having prestigious AAA games pursue trends of cinematic visual style that are a decade old. [Article link]
See you next week.
